Yesterday the world woke up to yet another brutal execution of a young Black man by the police, this time during a pretextual car stop. My heart goes out to our Black union members who today like so many other days are trying valiantly to put one foot in front of the other and take care of yourself and your families despite the mourning in your heart. A traffic stop should not be a death sentence. Walking to the store should not be a death sentence. Sleeping in your bed should not be a death sentence. We must eradicate by the root the poison of white supremacy that values property above people and terrorizes and rejects the humanity of Black people.
